Priory Hill Holiday Parks offer chalets
& caravan holiday homes for sale & season long touring pitches. Our chalets
& caravans are private use only although a small number are let out by the
individual owners. The parks are all situated on level ground leading from
the sea inland & therefore give accessibility to all.
We offer a variety of touring pitches,
most of which have both electrical hook up points at wheelchair level with
parking space alongside. Our toilets are disabled friendly & the shower room
can be provided for the exclusive use of the disabled person by
arrangement. Please state your requirements when enquiring/booking. The
touring park is as nature intended a predominantly grassed area & customers
should note that this could cause a potential hazard during inclement
weather. If you require a pitch nearer to a pathway please mention this
point on booking. There is a drop off point immediately outside the park
reception area for vehicles. Whilst there is a single low step into either
reception office to combat inclement weather all members of staff are
trained to attend to customers by the door or we can deal with enquiries
within the clubhouse area. All other facilities are wheelchair friendly with
wide doors & easy access points. While the park does not have an induction
loop at reception, all of our reception staff have been trained to assist
people who are audibly impaired. Furthermore, we have written guidance for
all hard of hearing/deaf guests covering everything they need – from
registration requirements to paying for your stay.
Customer safety is of particular
importance within our parks & a 10 mph speed limit has always been in force
with clearly marked speed ramps at strategic locations. These speed bumps
are graduated in order that wheelchairs can negotiate them easily.
Disabled guests can be transported to &
from their chalet/caravan by our on site electric buggy which can be booked
in advance & there are drop off facilities outside the clubhouse for those
having their own transport. Staff are available to park registered disabled
vehicles in our secure parking area if required.
A non-slip ramp covers the only step
into our fully wheelchair friendly clubhouse as all floors are on one level.
Extra wide doors that open in both directions have been installed at the
main entrance & other strategic points within the main clubhouse. Staff
have been trained to attend wheelchair users at the bar & will assist in
taking drinks or food to the customers table if so required. Disabled
friendly tables for wheelchair bound patrons are located in strategic points
throughout the entertainment complex & these can be made available by prior
arrangement. In 2006 extensive building works were undertaken within the
main complex for the provision of a specific disabled w.c. created using
current Swale Borough Council guidelines The Fire Alarm in the club turns
off the sound system and the lights are turned on to maximum. Notice is
given by the staff to evacuate the building & physical assistance will be
administered should it be required.
All assistance can be given to customers
as necessary in our user-friendly swimming pool, which is heated & indoor.
There are gently graduated steps into the swimming area, seating within the
pool & a shallow area for those with mobility disabilities. A lifeguard is
on duty at most times & the pool can be reserved after hours should it be so
desired. This facility is available upon request. There are signs at
strategic points around the pool area advising of the water depth.
There is a regular bus service from the
edge of the park & we hold timetables in the park office, which are free to
all customers upon request. The bus station is adjacent to the main railway
station at Sheerness with its onward links to London. Further information
for disabled persons regarding bus & train facilities can be obtained from
the relevant companies. Many taxi companies operate on the Island and are
equipped to cope with most disabilities.
The park has a small shop, which
provides basic everyday goods, & the local branch of our major supermarket
will deliver to the park for a nominal charge. Telephone numbers are
available at main reception for this service.
The colour scheme within the club has
been chosen to provide a noticeable contrast between floors, the bar areas,
walls & doorways. There is emergency lighting at all access doorways. Easily
accessible w.c. facilities for men & women are located at the entrance and
at the swimming pool areas of the club. A specific wheelchair friendly
facility has been provided between the bar and swimming pool. Please enquire
for further information or help.
Assistance dogs are more than welcome on
the parks & there is an adjacent area for dogs to roam in order to exercise.
Special poop scoops are available freely from the office upon request.
Whilst there is no 24 hour service
available on the park our reception/office is open daily from 9.30 am until
3.30 pm Monday to Friday 10am until 3.30pm on Saturday & 11am until 3.30pm
on Sunday. During the peak season the Touring Park office is open from 8am
to 8pm every day. Additional attention is also available during the bar
opening hours with at least one manager on duty at all times to ensure
guests obtain the best possible service. A public telephone box is available
on the park & acceptable coverage on both O2 & Vodafone mobile networks can
be obtained. All managers carry mobile telephones of which contact numbers
are freely available therefore providing virtual 24-hour coverage in
emergencies.
Our staff would be pleased to discuss
your personal requirements with you & we can also provide you with detailed
super sized & audio brochures. Staff have also been trained in accessibility
awareness & we aim to provide a most comprehensive service from a gas bottle
change over to escorted awareness trips of the locality. Should you require
assistance at any time during your visit or stay, do not hesitate to speak
to any of our staff who will guide you to the appropriate customer service
representative.
